The New Glue I Use |
Friday, 05 May 2006
Recently I had to do a puppet workshop on a cruise ship and it was difficult to bring all of my hot glue guns on board. I wasn't sure what I was going to do. I've always relied on hot glue to get through the steps of a puppet project within a short amount of time. Contact cement wasn't a good choice because I was leading smaller children and most craft glues take too long to dry. In a frantic search at my local craft store, however, I did find a craft glue I had never seen before. Aleene's Foamtastic glue stood out as a promising substitute for this new workshop venue. When I tested it I was very excited at the results. When I applied it to foam it didn't soak in like regular craft adhesives. It stood up like cake icing and when I placed a pom-pom on the spot the glue grabbed it immediately. This struck me as the tackiest glue I had ever used. Within 5 minutes it had dried to where you could shake the puppet and the pieces you were applying would stay attached. I was now even more excited to bring this on the cruise.

After the workshop I felt compelled to tell the world about this glue I had found. Foamtastic truly is Foamtastic! I got through the workshop, 60 kids made their own Banana Buddy characters in 1 hour and 15 minutes, and the Youth Activities Director of the cruise ship was very impressed. I have to thank Aleene's for making my new favorite glue and saving me from a potential disaster. I recommend it for use on any of my projects from Puppet Mania or Puppet Planet. |
